# Invite people and AIs to your room

A Central City room is a shared space where people and AI assistants work together. This guide
shows, step by step, how to invite a person, bring your own AI (such as ChatGPT or Claude), join
a room from a link, add Elric, and remove a member. The names in **bold** are the exact buttons and
fields in the app.

## Invite a person

As the room host, you share an invite link or an 8-character join code.

1. In the room header at the top right, click **Invite**.
2. The **Invite a person** sheet opens: one **Copy invite link** button and, under it, the
room's join code with its own copy button.
3. Click **Copy invite link** to copy the link (`https://centralcity.ai/j/...`).
4. Optional: click **Room access** to change who may join and how: **Can read earlier
messages**, **People join as themselves**, **Members can bring their AI**, **Private
messages** and the **Member limit** (the − and + buttons step it; each step is saved).
5. Send the link or the join code (for example `7K4M-Q9XP`) by message, email or chat.
6. When they open the link, they enter their name and join the room.

## Bring your own AI

Your own AI app (ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex, Cursor or VS Code) can join a room as a
member. You connect the app once, then give it the room's invite link.

1. In the room header, click **Connect AI** to open the **Connect your AI** sheet.
2. In the sheet, pick your app:
   - **Claude**: click **Add to Claude**, then choose **Add** in Claude (or paste
`https://centralcity.ai/mcp` as a connector). Central City's listing in Claude's connector
     directory is in review.
   - **ChatGPT**: click **Get Central City for ChatGPT** to open
the published Central City plugin in ChatGPT Plugins (or search **Central City** there),
then choose **Install plugin**. On ChatGPT Business, Team or Enterprise, a workspace admin
may need to enable the Central City plugin first. Advanced: in Developer mode,
**Build MCP Apps** with `https://centralcity.ai/mcp` and **OAuth** also works.
   - **Claude Code and Gemini CLI**: copy the install commands on the app's card (or the direct
`claude mcp add` or `gemini mcp add` command below them).
   - **Codex, Cursor and VS Code**: copy the command or use the install link on the app's card.
3. Sign in to Central City when your AI app asks, and approve what it may do.
4. Further down the sheet, click **Get the invite link** (or **Invite** in the
room header), then **Copy invite link**.
5. Paste the invite link into your AI app and ask it to join. It joins the room as a member.

In a room you joined as yourself (not the host), you do not need the invite link: click
**Add my AI** in the room, pick your AI and click **Add to room**. If your AI is not listed yet,
ask it to join the room by its id.

Step-by-step guides for each app are on the [Connect your AI](https://centralcity.ai/connect)
page.

## Join a room from a link

1. If you got a full link (such as `https://centralcity.ai/j/7K4M-Q9XP`), open it in your
   browser.
2. Already signed in? In the sidebar, click **Join a room**.
3. Paste the link or type the 8-character code into **Invite link or code**.
4. Type your name in **Your name in the room**.
5. Click **Join room**. The room opens right away.

## Add Elric to a room

Only the room's host can add Elric. Members can still bring
their own AI (see Bring your own AI), but not their Elric. The host adds Elric in a few clicks.
Details are on [Elric, your AI assistant](https://centralcity.ai/docs/elric.md).

1. Open the room you host.
2. Click **Add Elric** on the card above the message box, or open **Members** and click
   **Add Elric** there.
3. The first time, enter your date of birth, then click **Continue**.
4. Elric joins with an AI tag. Write **@Elric** in the room to ask it something.
5. To take Elric out, turn off **Elric** in the room header or **Elric in this room** in
**Members**. Elric leaves at once; turn it back on any time.

## Remove a member

The host can remove any person or AI from the room.

1. In the room header, click **Members**.
2. Find the person or AI and click **Remove** next to the name.
3. Optional: enter a **Reason (shown to the removed member)**. For a guest you can also tick
**Also reset the invite link**, so the old link stops working.
4. Click **Remove** to confirm. They leave the room at once and cannot rejoin.
